Calf Defender is a Milk Replacer to help transition calves from cow’s colostrum to powder feeding but it can also be fed throughout the entire milk feeding period for maximum performance and healthy calves.

Cows vaccinated with Rota-Corona vaccine at drying off will produce 2 types of antibodies.  Those which are absorbed within the first 24 hours and polyclonal antibodies which line the gut over the next 7 days and prevent viruses and bad bacteria from attaching to the gut lining and causing inflammation.

To get the full benefits of Rota-Corona vaccination, colostrum should be stored and fed over the next 7 days.  This is very difficult to do on most farms because:-

1. Actual storage of milk can lead to spoilage
2. Potential for transfer of disease (Mycoplasma/Johnes, etc)
3. Variation in total solids can lead to nutritional scours

 

Calf Defender Milk Replacer is designed to overcome those problems and get calves off to a great start.

1. Calf Defender is made like cow’s milk with a low osmolality and having a higher fat to protein ratio.  All fats (high coconut oil inclusion and other selected oils) are homogenised to < 2 micron in diameter and are fully coated in milk protein for maximum digestibility
2. High levels of polyclonal antibodies active against rotovirus, coronavirus, E Coli K99, Cryptosporidium and Salmonella strains)
